Meet Erica McCain of McCain and Associates

McCain and AssociatesMcCain and Associates helps people prepare for and transition into retirement by putting their hard-earned assets to work. Most people preparing for retirement have a lot of products or accounts. However, they don’t typically have a plan or know how to make those products all work together strategically to maximize their income and lower taxes where possible. McCain and Associates works with men & women of all ages. They work with a lot of small business owners as well. Their process and approach are most appreciated by women over the age of 50, for many reasons. Read Erica McCain’s Client Q & A below:

Q: What differentiates you from other financial planners?

A: We design an income plan for every client no matter what their age. That way they have a good idea of what their income will be and where that income will come from as they learn about the order of money. In other words what account to draw from and when once they finally do retire. Giving them a track to run on  (so to speak) creates peace of mind.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
A: My clients for sure. I learn just as much from them sometimes as they do from us. A good example of this comes from one of my long time clients recently. I like to plant a little salsa garden every summer. You know, a few tomato plants, a couple of pepper plants, and common herbs. Well, this year I branched out and planted strawberries. I started noticing every time some strawberries sprouted…before they could even get ripe something was munching on them, lol. Luckily, my clients shared with me exactly what to do that would safely stop that from happening and also not harm anything furry in the process.

Q: What do you like most about your partnership with OfficeKey and (how long have you been here)?
A: We’ve been with OfficeKey for 18 months now and couldn’t be happier with them. Besides how convenient and handy it is the clerical staff is the bomb. I’ve never seen a more pleasant group anywhere. It doesn’t matter what time of day or what the circumstances are, they always smile make things look easy.
Q: How do you spend time outside of work?
A: I have 2 boys, 26 & 22. Brady the older one is a Miami of Ohio graduate and works as a mechanical engineer for a large company (Venture Global) on the gulf in  Cameron, Louisiana. Ethan the younger one went to the University of Kentucky but has since made his way to the West Coast. He is an audio engineer and lives a very hard life in sunny SO-CAL  just south of LA in Huntington Beach. Just kidding about the hard life stuff. The sun shines every day where this kid lives and he’s a 5-minute walk from the beach. Fortunately, both of them still like for me to visit when I can. So I do, lol. That’s what I spend the majority of my downtime doing, traveling, or waiting on them to travel home to see me. I like to cook & live a healthy lifestyle,  spend as much time outside as possible, and after all of that go see my guys every chance I get. Brady travels with his company so I typically go somewhere different every time I visit him. That’s exciting. Before his recent move to Louisiana, he was in  Salt Lake City, Utah. Wow, what a beautiful part of the country. He took me to Antelope Island and to see the Great Salt Lake.  My last big adventure with Ethan was to Top of the World Park in Laguna Beach, California. He lived there before he moved to Huntington Beach. It overlooks Laguna, the canyons and you can even see Catalina Island on a clear day. Both of my guys are a lot of fun and I really love spending time with them.

Q: What is your favorite movie or tv show?
A: I don’t really watch TV but I do watch movies at Christmas time. My all-time favorite is Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase. I love that movie and the laughs never get old to me.

Q: What is your favorite animal and why?
A: I grew up in a rural area and my dad has always had horses and a few other farm animals. I love them all. My current fur babies though are a long-haired Dachshund named Minnie (she’s a real diva) and a copper Siberian Husky named Oakley that actually belongs to Brady. They’re both good dogs that enjoy an evening walk and occasional car ride to visit my dad. I would be pretty lonely without them as my husband travels quite a bit with his company.
